On May 1, 1976 the yacht “Isatis” departed LaRochelle, France for what would become a 13-year voyage to the far reaches of the sea.  Initially the yacht was only a vehicle to transport the crew to the base of mountains, inaccessible by land, so  they could scale the peaks. During the voyage, the crew would succeed in climbing over one hundred mountains, spend two summers in Antarctica and brave the stormy waters around Cape Hope five times. But more than that, the crew would learn much about each other, the sea and the vast and diverse world around them.

This site documents the voyage of “Isatis” and her adventurous Captain, Jean Lescure.
